The mystery of this Ken is a case for Nancy Drew AND the Hardy Boys! Here is what little info I can provide and if you can add to it, I would love to have it. The facts:
1) The individual who sold this doll said it had been removed from the box and redressed. He is barefoot.
2) It was made in India by LEO-Mattel.
3 The code is #9811. There is not a #9811 assigned to any Mattel product.
4) The box is not dated.
5) It sold in India for 185.00 rupee ($2.09).
6) The design on the box front came up with no information across multiple search engines.
7) One reference was located as a doll from India. It was in a different box, the doll had dark hair, and it was dressed in....wait for it....THIS doll's outfit!!
To me, it lends itself to being a prototype.
